A chandelier’s beauty is visible. Its load path is not. We assess the fitting, fixing and ceiling structure so an installation can be understood before a problem appears.
The testing question
What is carrying the weight?
Our load testing service is for new installations, existing chandeliers where the support is uncertain, and projects where the ceiling or fixing has changed. We look at the relationship between the chandelier, its suspension, the fixing and the structure above.
Testing is carried out at 50% above the chandelier’s weight to protect both the fitting and the ceiling structure. Where needed, we structurally reinforce the ceiling rather than asking an uncertain fixing to carry on regardless.

Understand the load
We gather the chandelier’s known weight, dimensions, construction and suspension details, and note any changes to the room or fitting.

Inspect the support
The ceiling, fixing point, suspension hardware and visible connections are reviewed from safe access, with attention to movement, condition and alignment.

Reach the fitting
PASMA qualified specialists can assemble and erect scaffold towers where required, allowing the assessment to happen at the fitting rather than from the floor.

Test above weight
The load test is carried out at 50% above the chandelier’s weight. The purpose is to protect the fitting and ceiling structure, not to chase a cheap pass.

Advise and finish
We explain the result, identify reinforcement or repair needs where applicable, and leave the access area and fitting in an orderly condition.
Material knowledge
The object affects the evidence.
Crystal and fine glass can add significant weight while remaining vulnerable to shock, so they are handled without using the decorative elements as leverage.
Hand-blown and Murano glass are considered for both their weight and their fragility, especially where a fitting has multiple suspended pieces.
Antique metalwork may have historic fixings or altered components that need a more careful inspection than a modern standard fitting.
Brass, chrome, nickel and gold finishes are protected while access equipment and testing arrangements are put in place.
A test is useful only when it protects the room.

Yes, where the assessment shows that reinforcement is needed, we explain the structural work before proceeding. The aim is to create an appropriate support arrangement, not to make an uncertain fixing do more.
Can testing be done on an installed chandelier?
It can be considered for an existing fitting, subject to its condition, access and the information available about the support. Photographs, dimensions and any previous installation details help us scope it responsibly.
How much does load testing cost?
